Previous readers of this series gave me two key pieces of feedback:
While they enjoyed reading about the historical figures behind my wisdom drops and appreciated hearing about my experiences, they found they just didn't have time...
What they REALLY valued in the posts were three things: (1) the wisdom, (2) my reflection questions, and (3) my challenge to apply the wisdom in their daily lives
So...I'm completely revising this series. From now on, I'm bringing you ONE piece of wisdom, THREE reflection questions, and ONE challenge for you to undertake to live the wisdom in your daily life. And, given the shorter format, I will be able to return to doing them on a weekly basis!
With that said, here's your weekly dose of ancient wisdom, some food for thought, and a challenge for you..
This Week's Wisdom:
"To a mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders." - Chuang Tzu (Zhuangzi)
Chuang Tzu, also known as Zhuangzi, was a foundational figure in Taoism, living around the 4th century BCE in ancient China. His teachings emphasized the importance of spontaneity and harmony with nature, advocating for a life of simplicity and mindfulness.
Reflection Questions for You:
When was the last time you experienced a moment of true mental stillness?
What might be the benefits of cultivating more stillness in your daily life?
How could a quieter mind change the way you approach challenges or learning opportunities?
Challenge for the Week:
This week, try to dedicate at least 10 minutes each day to practice stillness. Find a quiet space, minimize distractions, and simply allow your mind to settle without focusing on any thoughts or tasks. Observe how this practice affects your daily interactions and overall mental clarity.
That's it! Join me again next Wednesday for another piece of ancient wisdom you might apply to modern life.
